New iRiff: Riff Raff Theater - Lost City Chapter 9!

We volunteered for this Lost City group project months ago, and then spent the last few weeks wondering if *any* of the 12 groups bringing you these VOD riffs know exactly what's going on. We cound three rugged explorers, a damsel in distress, 2 (maybe 3?) warring native tribes, a femme fatale, an old scientist, a plucky sidekick, and then some weird alien dude watching over all of this madness with little recourse in how things happen.

Oh, and a 3 foot doppleganger of Terry Jones. There's always that.

Die Hard may qualify with some of you as a "quality" flick, but think about what it brought you: The star power neccessary for Bruce Willis to make Hudson Hawk. The premiere of Severus Snape. The man who went on to direct Speed. And every cringeworthy action flick cliche? It was spawned HERE! How can you pass this up? We certainly didn't, and neither did the dozens of writers who came along for the ride.

Day After Tomorow -- Live January 30th!

Riff Raff Theater's 2009 season is starting with The Day After Tomorrow, the disasterous disaster flick, at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City, IA. We've gathered your jokes and strewn them about, picking them up randomly with the hopes that they make some semblance of sense in the end. TRON. We can't really identify it as a movie. It's a shared experience of nostalgia. Everyone we talk to remembers loving it, but can't remember when they last saw it. And so we, in our continued efforts to improve our community, have taken it upon ourselves to educate the viewing public on just how bad this film really was.

Get Ready... to rush out of the Cineplex! Sure, 1993 was a more innocent time. The world wasn't burdened with the knowledge of horrible things like reality television, the Backstreet Boys, Enron loopholes, or Star Wars prequels. So it comes as no shock that such a naive world could be snookered into thinking that a bus could actually fly. Now, in a more cynical age, Chris, Todd, and Danuuc have stepped forward to point out the elephant in the room... which happens to actually be an exploding hunk of public transportation.
