It’s January here in Minnesota, and if you’re like me, you’re freezing your nipples off and wondering why in the Actual Hell you live here. How do I survive, you ask? By cozying up to a warm TV and watching some of my favorite Rifftrax titles, like these!
Although we riffed this way back in the early days of MST3K, this is yet ANOTHER version of this old kaiju chestnut with yet ANOTHER American military subplot grafted onto it. But at its heart it’s still the story of Gammera, an ancient amphibian monster awoken by a nuclear explosion, and Kenny, the boy who loves him.

World-renowned Martial Arts champion Cynthia Rothrock shows off her less-than-world-renowned acting skills in the rock ‘em-sock ‘em action… thing. Rarely do we see a movie with a plot as incomprehensible as this, and that's only one of the things I love about this movie. The other is the acting, or should I say, appearing on set and trying to say lines, and the entire cast never fails to fail.
For RiffTrax’s tenth anniversary Bill and I joined Mike to revisit one of the very first Rifftrax offerings, but this time it’s all three of us and a brand new script. What can you say about Road House? It’s beyond a doubt one of our favorite riffable movies of all time. Come on along with us and enjoy some hurtless pain. This is the kind of movie you get when a bunch of guys who hang out at a sports bar in Downers Grove Illinois get together and say, “Hey let’s get a couple a cases of beer and make a supernatural thriller.” Shot with all the visual lushness of a 70’s corporate training film, you’ll marvel at how far a movie can go with so little plot, or editing, or really anything you’ve come to expect in a movie.
With the final season of Game of Thrones around the corner, there’s no better way to see the premier episode than with us. Can’t finish this list without a short, so I’ve reached way back in the catalog for this gem, a philosophical contemplation on the nature of existence by two bored eight-year-olds. Ultimately you might learn something about nothing, but you’ll definitely laugh while scratching your head.
