Young preppie Danny Winslow decides to pursue a career in drifting. He immediately gets beaten and robbed by thugs. Enter seasoned, charming, oily vagrant Bix Dugan, who takes Danny under his sport-coated wing, teaching him how to glower, brood and drift, and properly get beaten and robbed by thugs. The pair ride the rails a good two or three miles and end up in a small town jammed to the rafters with even more thugs. Bix falls in love with the lovely innocent waitress Carrie, Danny gets drugged and robbed by a hooker. Along comes leering, fly-specked Head Thug Jesse, and from there they all ride a delightfully hell-bound train to ruin.
It’s all wrapped up with an MST musical favorite, our take on the classic train song called “What a Pleasant Journey,” and features classic character actor Jack Elam, the evil version of Garrison Keillor. All aboard!
