What's the only thing better than a corny, overblown, unmemorable Hollywood remake of a beloved classic? You guessed it: a corny, overblown, unmemorable TV remake of one! Thus is "Tin Man," a 3-part Sci Fi Channel miniseries that not only borrows the story and characters from The Wizard of Oz, but also twists and maims them badly enough to send L. Frank Baum cartwheeling like Shawn Johnson under his tombstone. In case its offer to "follow a new yellow brick road" doesn't entice fans of the 1939 film, the series attempts to wrangle in younger viewers with a cast that includes the bug-eyed girl from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the blue German guy from X-Men United, the crazy husband from "Desperate Housewives," and the annoying guy from Jaws*, also known as Zooey Deschannel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, and...the REALLY annoying guy from Jaws.
Join iRiff newcomers Katelyn Rushe and Mikaela Shay as they tackle all 3 episodes of the series, appropriately starting with Part 1. Grab you ruby slippers and your little dogs too, then immediately place them by the side of the road with the rest of the childhood magic that "Tin Man"'s writers opted to throw out.
*Known to a select number of sources as Richard Dreyfuss, whose levels of annoyingness have increased substantially over the past 36 years.
