Scanners is a film about mutants who can blow up people's heads with their thoughts.  These same mutants can also read other people's minds--at least when it's convenient to the plot anyway.  Think of it like X-men, only with a bunch of Canadians who have bad hair and an even worse fashion sense.

David Cronenberg writes and directs this horror classic (Unfortunately, he doesn't star in it too).
