The Humanoid

Richard Kiel… IN SPACE!!!!

Honestly not sure what else we need to say, those four words should be more than enough. And yet, there is so much more than that going on in The Humanoid!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a movie called Star Wars was released. Within minutes, other filmmakers around the globe began making their own ripoffs–er, homages! Respectful homages! High among these shameless endeavors ranks The Humanoid, and boy is it shameless (and rank).

The evil Lord Graal (guy in a huge black helmet that would make Rick Moranis blush) is out to get vengeance on the planet Metropolis (which is just Earth; they started calling it Metropolis at some point, no idea why). He and his evil scientist buddy are especially focused on destroying their greatest rival… Barbara Gibson. That’s right, the powerful important futuristic protagonist taking on Lord Graal and his empire is named… Barbara Gibson. She even has a little nameplate on her space desk! Barbara Gibson!

The aforementioned Richard Kiel is just a regular ol’ star pilot rogue type, flying “Solo” if you will, in his junker of a ship with his junker of a robot dog. Then one day he flies by the wrong evil space station, gets kidnapped, his majestic beard is somehow removed, and he reawakens as The Humanoid, a mindless terrifying creature that makes the galaxy tremble with its abilities… which are basically just being tall and throwing people around. Pretty standard stuff for Richard Kiel, why’d they even bother transforming him?

There’s also Barbara Bach as Lady Agatha, rocking the galaxy’s strangest haircut. And a quirky young lad with psychic powers named Tom Tom, who even Barbara Gibson can’t explain.

In the name of starship flyovers, long space hallways full of troopers, and of course, the all-powerful Barbara Gibson, you simply must join Mike, Kevin and Bill for the absolute Kiel-fest that is The Humanoid!
