When two anthropology grad students show up in a rural Louisiana town, the locals have some questions.
One, if you’re supposed to be grad students, why are you clearly in your mid forties? Two, might your career prospects be improved if you got a degree in literally anything else, like say, a masters in Eating Pringles, or a Ph.D. in Proper Q-Tip Technique? And three, why does your shirt say “Pahoo” on the back of it?
At least the third one has an answer: Yes, one of our main characters is named Pahoo. We’ll give you a minute to process that, we’re not happy about it either. Pahoo and his buddy Rives have come to Oil City, Louisiana (Town motto: Even less appealing than it sounds!) in search of a mysterious, smelly, hairy creature that has been terrorizing the locals. Once they’ve ruled out Post Malone, they venture into the swamp in search of clues.
The creature, which appears to be the costume you get when you spent most of your film’s budget on a custom shirt that says “Pahoo” on the back of it, is pretty much your standard Bigfoot, though we assume that being from Louisiana, it has the mystical ability to tolerate Zydeco music for longer than 45 seconds. It has killed, and will kill again, which is probably why our heroes spend most of the film’s run time in a local diner, eating burgers and flirting with waitresses.
This Creature is not from the Black Lagoon, he’s from Black Lake, a legally distinct entity that no doubt confused filmgoers about as much as the name “Pahoo” did. Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for Creature From Black Lake!
