Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy has cultivated the act of talking back to the movies into an art form and a career. For ten years Kevin co-wrote and directed the Peabody Award-winning series Mystery Science Theater 3000, and starred as the plucky red robot Tom Servo. Classic episodes of MST3K, as its legion of fans call it, continue to be huge sellers on Shout! Factory DVDs and streaming on Netflix.

In 2002 Kevin created the ultimate movie-lover's marathon by going to movie theaters around the globe every single day for a year, chronicling the event in the bestselling book A Year at the Movies: One Man's Filmgoing Odyssey. Covering Kevin's movie-watching adventures in over a hundred cities in ten countries on three continents, the book became a top 100 seller on Amazon and won national critical praise. Time's Richard Corliss called the book "brimful of intelligent passion about films and filmgoing" while The Onion AV Club described it as "Lively, entertaining, diverse, sometimes fascinating, and deeply telling." Publishers Weekly declared Kevin "a highbrow man of the people."

With his RiffTrax partners Mike Nelson and Bill Corbett, Kevin continues the MST tradition by riffing on all manner of film, from old cheesy genre films to today's biggest blockbusters. Musically inspired by the movies they've skewered, Kevin also produced The RiffTones' first album, "Music for Riffing."

Kevin's movie commentaries have been a regular feature on National Public Radio's Weekend Edition Sunday, and his eye for bad film earned him the "Bottom Shelf" column for Total Movie Magazine. Kevin lives and works in Minnesota but continues to travel the world, watching movies everywhere he goes.

The major key points of racking and shelving system should be as below: 1. Steel Structure. When we design the size of pallet racking system, we should notice the effective height of room and pillar, the loading capacity and of floor and whether it is aclinic. Also we should consider the position of fire fighting equipment and lighting equipment.

I just thought of something great that i'm sure you, Mike, and Bill would really like!! It involves Netflix and the xbox-360. Xbox-360 has the ability to stream Netflix movies and shows that you can watch instantly (which there are an enormous amount of movies and shows to watch instantly). The thing that is great about it is that before you start to watch a movie or show, you can start what is called a "Party" in which you can invite up to a full theaters worth of your friends (even non-friends) on xbox-live. And as long as you have a microphone you can all talk to eachother while watching the movie or show. When i realized this i thought "Gee, i bet the guys from MST3K would love this b/c they could riff on movies and/or shows, LIVE, with fans that love to hear them!!" So yeah, i just thought you might like to know that, b/c it would mean the world to me to be in the same party as you guys listening to what you do best while watching the movie you tear apart!! (P.S. long time fan. I been watching MST3K since i was 4 years old).

Are you & Bill going to do any more "Rifftrax Presents"? Some of us really miss your riff treatments of R-rated horror films!

Kevin, you and all the others at MST3k shaped me as who I am today, a completely messed up and confusing human being. I'm not complaining, though! It's a funny kind of messed up. I have a great sense of humor thanks to MST, and I enjoy RiffTrax, even though I have only seen Plan 9 when you did a live feed. Keep it up, all of you!

EDIT:  I have now bought over a dozen RiffTraxes (RiffTraxen? Rifftrax?  Rifftraxi?) and my ribs now permanently hurt from laughing so hard.  Again, thank you

I Have To Say, Best Brains Inc. Made the best decision when they made you Servo.
Josh's voice always gave me a slight headache when I heard it

Tom/Kevin is my favorite character. I've watched every MST3k including the first season 0. Thanks a ton for all your great work and it's so awesome that you're continuing to create new movies.

My friends and I, who cite late-night MST3K marathons as the bedrock of our friendship, convened in Jackson, MS to watch a broadcast of the Plan 9 Riff. Most fun I've had in a movie theatre ever. Proud to say that I was voted the Tom Servo of my circle of friends.

I'm glad you guys are making the internet work for you in the "post-mystery science" world.

How could no one post a comment in the profile of the great Tom Servo!? You were the greatest part of Mystery Science Theater 3000, hands down!
