Sometimes you find yourself looking back on your childhood and asking yourself, "Did that ever really make sense to me? What was in my water?"

The Last Unicorn.  A gripping and sad tale of the ravages of extinction and...what?  Oh, apparently it's a whimsical romp of animation from people mainly known for Christmas specials coupled with several long musical numbers by those guys that sang Sister Golden Hair.

Featuring the vocal talent of Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury, Christopher Lee, Alan Arkin and the song stylings of Jeffrey Lebowski, The Last Unicorn is a magical journey of discovery where adults can look back and realize just how screwed up their beloved childhood classics really were.

Joined by his good friend Nykk, Ronin Fox takes the journey alongside the ancient mythological archetypes of the talking horse, the Jewish magician, and the old cookwench to do battle with the Red Bull*.  Will the unicorn find the rest of her kind and prove the title to be a lie?  Will bold Captain Cully and his band continue their thievery or open a new chain of taco restaurants?  Will Schmendrick change his name to something more dignified, like Klutzo?  And of course, what could be so wrong with this movie that it would drive riffers out of the studio?  These questions, but less, will be answered!

Hideous Movie, Nice Riff.

Being fairly new to the iRiff scene, I was perhaps a little suspicious about the product to begin with. Could anything match up to the professionalism or quality that Mike & the guys put out on a regular basis? I was quickly assuaged when in the first couple of minutes I'd realised that this was as enjoyable as the "official" Rifftrax releases, only aimed at a more niche audience who will actively seek out the DVD for a riff, rather than only buy a copy of it if they have the DVD in their collection. The audio quality is good, the riffs frequent and varied, and most of all -- the movie really, really, deserves it. Nice work, Ronin and pals, I'll be looking forward to seeing your other works!

Got around to watching this one

I picked this up a while ago and while I've watched it in bits and pieces, I finally watched it start to finish last night. By far my favorite section was the entire scene with the butterfly. The line as he flew off was pretty much exactly what I was thinking. There's something incredibly funny about the line "You love whimsy, sit down." Love of whimsy is normally not an order. I also enjoyed the tree scene and what you guys chose to do with it. Anything with the raven cracked me up for hopefully obvious reasons. I've given this a 5 star rating as it was a top quality riff. I see what others have said about the movie taking away from the enjoyment of it though.

I think I actually saw this movie when I was 3 or 4 but it took me til the last 10 minutes to remember it.

Funny, but maybe not the best film for me

I bought this iRiff awhile ago, but then it took about a month to get the DVD (not my fault!). The track has some good riffs in it, although I felt there were too many times when Ronin and friends are talking over something that's being said in the film. There are sometimes where that works okay, and sometimes when it doesn't. In particular, I had trouble getting the right volume levels between the film and the iRiff track such that I could catch what the riff *was* when the riff was being said at the same time something noisy was happening in the movie. ___p___

I think the main problem with this film was that I'm just too old to enjoy the movie on any level, and the riffs did not help enough. I still spent too much time thinking "why am I wasting my time on a kids film?". That's entirely a problem with me vs the movie though, and others might enjoy this a lot more than I did. I still think the riff track had a lot of good lines in it, and once you get to the end of the movie you realize that the main premise of the movie is ABSOLUTELY NUTS and deserves to be riffed. But I watched the movie with the riff track a few times, and I'd say that it's not likely that I will watch it again. I'll give it 4-stars, but it's something of a weak 4-stars for *me*. As I say, it wouldn't surprise me if others found this more enjoyable than I did.

Superb Take on this Whimsical Classic

Ok, yes I am a little biased because I wrote some of the riffs on here, but this was another solid riff from Ronin Fox Trax! 90% of the jokes are vastly original and hilarious! I recomend this to everyone! Especially if you are a fan of people singing their riffs!
