Riff Raff Theater - Minority Report
Riff Raff Theater - Minority Report

In the annals of Hollywood craziness, there will never be another like Tom Cruise. Thankfully, like the cold fusion we someday hope to harness, Tom's supply of cookoo is unlimited and never-ending. When we put out the call to the internet to send us jokes for Minority Report... well, let's just say that there wasn't a short supply available. We've taken the best of the lot and produced this riff for you and your Thetan-loving friends!

Fun Stuff!

This was one of my favorite riffs to work on so far. Our community writers went all out and really delivered some top notch material. The hardest part of all was choosing which jokes would make the cut.

As always, Chris, Todd, and Danuuc did a great job in the sound booth. We can always count on them to make us feel good about being nerds. And to give these terrible actors the vicious prodding they so desperately deserve. :)

Everybody runs!

*Oh*! More *viewers*! I heard this movie wanted "more eyeballs".

Kids Love Precrime!

It's a future world where all the walls and even the cereal boxes are constantly changing displays (mostly showing ads, and even using eyeball-based recognition to pick a specific ad for each person that sees it), and yet the morning paper is still delivered by a paper boy on a bicycle. Yes, there's "a few" logic problems within this movie. Here's another one. One of the ads for the "Precrime" agency says: (1) Murder had reached epidemic proportions, (2) After 1 month of the "precrime program", murder rate in Washington DC dropped 90%, and (3) in the six years that we (precrime) have been conducting our experiment, there hasn't been a SINGLE MURDER. Yes, apparently "zero" is 10% of "epidemic proportions". ___p___

It's somewhat tedious to write a review for this, because the more you stop and think about the movie itself, the more stupid inconsistencies you will find in it. Still, if you *don't* think about the movie, and you *do* play this Riff Raff track while watching it, then the result is pretty entertaining. The Riff Raff group has selected a good variety of riffs. They didn't overdo it with jokes about Scientology. There are jokes refering to other movies (both movies with and without Tom Cruise), a variety of songs, milk baths, and even some which refer to "Far Side". The character who is setup to be shot by Tom Cruise's character is named (Leo) Crow, and that is used for several riffs based on our favorite robots on the Satellite of Love. There are a few voice-impressions of various actors (iirc, they were all of actors who were *not* in the movie, but saying some line from some other movie which fit well with the scene they were riffing). And of course, there's a good selection of jokes which simply point out stupid parts of the movie, such has how ludicrously expensive it would be to build the prison for the would-be-murders that Precrime puts away. Or how some parts of the movie will have you rolling your eyeballs. ___p___

A couple of riffs that I particularly liked was during the fight/flight in the car assembly plant, where the cops have "set ripple guns to 'mind inconvenience'!". Or later in the movie, where it's observed that "It's a bad sign for your movie when even the characters in the movie are checking their watches...". There were also a couple of good riffs based on the last name of Tom Cruise's character, making connections to both "Mr Anderson" lines in the matrix, and "Aniken" lines from Star Wars Episode 2 or Episode 3. ___p___

I enjoyed this riff track a lot, and in my opinion it's easily another 5-star riffing job done by Riff Raff Theater. It takes a painful film and makes it entertaining. At the same time, I wouldn't say that it was a "laugh out-loud experience", although I'm not quite sure why. The riffs were all well done and well placed, but I think the movie itself is so dreary and painfully stupid in parts that you can never completely escape it. Or maybe it's just me. As I watch this movie, I think that most of the actors are actually doing a fairly good job at playing their characters, and that this could have been a very good movie if the screen-writers just hadn't screwed up so many things in so many places.

One more...

Another riff that I thought was particularly good was to be able to lift several lines from "Space Balls" and have it fit in perfectly well with a scene in this movie.
