QUIPTRACKS - MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II

iRIFF BY: QuipTracks  (Created January 13, 2009)

Chinese action director John Woo (no doubt cheered on by his own last name) takes on the world of Mission: Impossible with all the great performances of Broken Arrow and all the plausibility of Face/Off (not to mention face removal and off-putting faces...but I digress).

The Chimera virus is the most deadly and least contagious virus created by man and it must be stopped by the most acrobatic and least intelligent agent known to man: Ethan Hunt. To succeed he must overcome tedious symbolism, slow-motion photography, flocks of pigeons, and the constant failures and arbitrary limitations of his grudgingly-written-in team of IMF experts.

There's also some crap about a smirking china doll and a fist fight at a motocross event. Good thing QuipTracks is here, or this one would sting like pulling a latex mask off your face in one fluid yank*.

Bonus! Learn the secret of how to search for a hero. (Are you paying attention, Bonnie Tyler?)

*Historical side note: Curiously, during the American Civil War a fluid Yank was a Confederate unit of measure reserved exclusively for measuring donkey urine. Let it never be said that QuipTracks is not educational.

Features voices of Tristan, Tracy, and Kevin

This riff makes me FEEL BETTER... about sitting through M:I II.

I've never had the desire to finish this movie after falling asleep during the first ten minutes way back when this came out on DVD. I don't know what it is about Tom Cruise that makes me fall asleep. Thankfully, Tristan, Tracy and Kevin were there to help keep me awake.

This riff is truly hilarious. The guys do a great job (as always) of not only throwing out some hilarious one-liners and making some great observations about the stupidity of the movie, but also making fun of the actors in really fun way that isn't so mean. Not that I mind meanness, but you really did a great job with the cardboard cutout of Nyah jokes in regards to her acting ability. I loved Tracy's frustration over Nyah injecting the Chimera Virus because she would prolong the movie another twenty hours. I'm sort of glad QuipTracks picks painfully long movies, though. Their riffs are really a pleasure to listen to, despite the awfulness of the subject material.

Awesome

These guys are real pros and this trax is among the funniest I've heard on this site. If you haven't heard this yet, it's a must buy!

Gagging-ly good

Loved this one... I forgot how utterly retarded this movie was when I saw it some time ago. You guys never disappoint. Anyone reading this should buy the quiptrack already!

Top-notch riff track

I played this riff track several times over the long weekend, as I worked on some things on my computer at home. A good collection and variety of riffs, which makes the film much more enjoyable to watch. I ranked it as 5-stars.

Way good.

The jokes from this entrepreneurial riffing business are always perfectly mixed: new and old references, delicious sarcasm, and hilarious observations.

Classic stuff.

Forgot how crazy this movie was.

With a historic election behind us and an ongoing economic crisis all around us you remember your job is to be FUNNY and and use everything including the kitchen sink to do it. A Paris Hilton joke, a shout out to Dr. F and a classic horse race routine I've haven't heard for years. For some reason the casual remark "are we supposed to feed these sheep or something ?" also sticks in my mind. Watched it three times and I'll watch it again. A lot of stuff to riff on in this movie. Well done.

Great iRiff!

I loved this one! Very deserving movie and just as bad as I remember when I saw it last, in the theater in 2000. Excellent riff all around! Quiptracks has been impressing me from day one.
