What "solitary" figure in American folk lore deserves to be taken down a peg or two less than the Lone Ranger? Well strap on your spurs because OneWallCinema is about to do just that.  Firing silver bullets of wit and sarcasm, k1 and K2 take you on a 79 minute ride full of laughter and awkwardness as they tackle the beloved Lone Ranger and his cringe-worthy sidekick Tonto.  Hi ho Rifftrax aweigh!*

*We purposefully spelled it "aweigh" like anchors aweigh because of the grinding slowness of the show before we got to it.

Video has been pre-synced with the riffing for your immediate viewing enjoyment after download!

The lone critic

Of course there are a few good jokes but overall I didn't care for it. It got better after the second riffer joined. Before that it was just incessant babbling. But even afterwards there was a lot of just chatter and dully describing what was happening on screen. The funniest thing in it was actually in the film itself when the man fell off the cliff carrying a big rock. I chuckled a few times and enjoyed the feeling of camaraderie but I would rate the overall experience poorly and not worth the time or cash. I'm also not a fan of added sound effects but you didn't use them too much. Oddly enough I like the laughter shared amongst the riffers though. It just seems like you talk too damn much. Sometimes you would even say something that was kind of funny but you kept going and ruined it. It was like you were explaining the joke right after you said it or was beating it to death.
I tend to be a pretty harsh critic and looking over these comments I am alone in my opinion so maybe the problem is with me and not you. I feel a need to apologize for my opinion but I'm just being honest and I swear I'm not a troll. If I have hurt any feelings please comfort yourself with the several glowing reviews you have and with the facts that you have a nearly perfect rating with 18 ratings while the most I have is 8 and it is rated at about four and half stars. It was also released in the same month as yours.

The sound quality was above average and the video quality was very good.

A great Riff

I love the Lone Ranger and this is great. Isaac GO AWAY! You made a fool out of your self and got banned from the forum with your stupid claim that the Iriff contest was rigged(It wasn't the Lion King was a really good riff),now you have made a fool out of yourself here by reviewing your own stuff and spamming other people's pages. Why don't you go back to making your films and Iriffs that have thousands of fans instead of wasting all of your time here? I'll tell you why you have never made a film or an iriff with a fan and you have nothing to do with your life outside of trolling on this site. GO AWAY!

Oh and Peter Jackson is one of the best directors alive today.

HI-HO, TINFOIL!

Thanks to you, I now know the humble beginnings of one of TV's most beloved series. And I care EVEN LESS about it than I did before, which is a true test of one's apathy, I'll tell you!

Anyway, excellent craftsmanship on your riffs, guys. It seems like you enjoy getting REALLY far off topic -- like the hilarious "draw" story! -- and adding a nice touch of madness and surrealism to things. I especially LOVED the parts where you were singing along to the soundtrack! You should have done that more often! It would have taken more of the boredom out of the loooooooong riding scenes!

Just one more thing. Please explain the "Who's Colby" joke. I mean, am I completely out of touch with pop culture, or is it an inside joke? Either way, I'm dying to know, guys! Seriously, mention it here or send me a message or something! ANYTHING! Other than that, keep up the good riffing.

And a good time was had by all.

All right, I normally go into these praising the heck out of them and then ruining things with negative comments, so I'll go in reverse and hopefully make it sound much better!

The one issue I had with the riff was long stretches of riffing that often ate into conversations between the characters that sometimes either made the plot of the show (what little there was) hard to follow on occasion, and at others I missed the set-up for a joke because the line from the movie was squeezed by a preceding riff before it. But I think part of that was a side-effect of it being a VOD, since there isn't as much space to work in 'skit comedy' in a VOD as there is at the beginning and end of an iRiff mp3 without something having to give.

But that's not to say I didn't enjoy it, or that the quality of the production suffered. Scenes with Silver were always a highlight, and the entire scene with the mountainside was fantastic. Lots of good one-liners, and a good sense of camaraderie with each other went a long way to making the experience a pleasant one. And then there's Howard Dean (BYAAAAHHH!).

Really cheap for a lot of hilarious entertainment!

This movie / tv episode is just down right painful. But these guys really bring the funny. I thought
some of the gags or songs were going on for too long, but they always worked somehow in the
end and really made sense. This is a really weird group, with a really weird style, that is oh too familiar.
The Howard Dean joke was incred, and my favorite line of the whole movie was
"wait, this is the guy's grocery list".Get this and their Dragnet Riff; they are well worth the money.

C'est tres bon!

I figured French would be appropriate for the Lone Ranger, what with Tonto and all.

Anyway - excellent work! High Quality Riffing, and my minor quibbles with the sound from Dragnet have been taken care of - looking forward to more!

(speaking of more, I'm heading to Boston this fall for a week - you guys up for a One Swizzlebeef Cinema collaboration?)

Thanks!

You guys rock as well!

We really appreciate all the kind words! We are busy working on a few new iRiffs that we hope will be finished soon!

ShadowDog's picture

Great job!

You guys are that rare ORIGINAL riffing group. No disrespect to any other riffing groups because it is really hard to be original so it's not a slam. But somehow you've managed to do it. And, oh yeah, you're hilarious!

Looks Awesome!

I'm going to get this and make my dad watch it with me.
All he used to talk about was the Lone Ranger.

The sample is great and only $1.50, I'm getting this.

Great iRiff!

I enjoyed the back-and-forth commentary, and the gimmick of having one riffer enter late so as to create a bit of a running gag was very clever. Who knew that the Lone Ranger was so.... BORING? Thankfully, this makes it worthwhile! Recommended for all riff fans.

Frosty cold beverage of justice...

I used to watch "The Lone Ranger" a lot when I was a kid, but somehow I never saw the initial episodes. One nice thing about this riff is that this episode is the one which describes the start of the Lone Ranger character, and how he ends up in a team with Tonto and his horse Silver. (Please ignore the fact that the "Lone" ranger is clearly a part of a team, including Jim helping out with the silver mine...). ___p___

The episode includes quite a few scenes which just show people riding horses or walking around, with nothing much going on. OneWallCinema does a good job of filling all those empty scenes with a variety of riffs. In a few places, they wrote fake lyrics to fit the background music for some of those scenes. One riff was the supposed director's guidance on how to act out the scene -- where the scene is nothing but two guys walking. Some riffs are a fake discussion with the narrator or someone else in the episode, which was a cute effect. The riffers would ask some question which would be answered by the next line from the narrator or actor. They even fit in a riff which quotes Howard Dean on the campaign trail. There are times when the riffers talk over dialogue in the show, most of which work out fine. But in a couple cases I felt they talked over too long a stretch of some dialogue. ___p___

All the technical details are handled well, although I think the audio from the original episode is a bit fuzzy in spots. I think this would be an enjoyable riff for anyone who remembers the old TV show. There are a lot of riff lines added to the movie (almost having a few too many in a some spots). And one of the riffers did an amusing fake-voice for lines which were supposedly being said by Silver the horse. I'd say this is a five-star riff, although maybe not as good as some others that I've rated as five-stars.

good riff

I enjoyed the riff... a few good moments. Audio quality was great also. This was one horrible episode. I couldn't imagine getting through it without a riffer.
