iRIFF BY: Luke and Joe Present...  (Created November 6, 2008)

What happens when airhead models and smarmy photographers break into a castle for some sort of photo shoot or something?  Bloody Pit of Horror won't answer that question but it certainly tries, and Luke and Joe are here to help in this full-length VOD riff.

Luke and Joe, stars of the aptly-named The Adventures of Luke and Joe (www.lukeandjoe.com), join you in this unintentionally surreal tale of photography, murder and wandering through things very slowly.  Features such legendary characters as master wall-climber Perry and villain/possible luchador The Crimson Executioner as well as skits by Luke and Joe to either try to explain what you're seeing or complain about it.

And best of all the cast features Mickey Hargitay, father of Law and Order actress Mariska Hargitay!  You know her.  She's on Special Victims Unit, the one nobody watches.  Benson.  Yeah, her.  Her dad.  I guess he was a bodybuilder or something.  Totally him, I swear.  He's in it!

This is an iRiff!

Poor Riffing effort.

So many missed joke opportunities and very poor delivery. I think I dozed off a couple of times too. My cousin who bought this didn't like it either. Will wait and see how ICWXP does at it.

A few generic riffs, but still good

There was a stretch of a few minutes of the movie where the riffs did seem rather bland and generic, but I just watched the whole movie again and there were plenty of good riffs too. One near the end that I liked was "using the foolproof tactic of hiding in front of a wall -- brilliant!". And the running gag about the hair ("helmet") of one of the actresses seemed to be repeated a bit too often, but somehow a few more repeats made it funny again. ___p___ One thing I noticed after listening to the whole movie again is that pretty much all of the riffing was directly related to the movie itself. There were few (if any) references to any scenes in other more-famous movies, or call-backs to other MST3k-ed or rifftrax-ed movies. And no references to any song-lyrics which might fit the scene in some funny way. So the riffs which are there were entertaining to me, but I can see where a bit more variety in style-of-riff could help. __p__ I'd still rate it as 4-stars, but more of a "weak" four stars instead of a solid one. For me the riffs were entertaining and worth the price, but there's certainly room for improvement in the riffing. And I did enjoy the animation they did, and the little animated skits, and I think that helps to make it a distinctive effort.

Just okay

Very well made... but the humor didn't strike my fancy. Too many this is dumb, this is bad, or obvious statement type jokes for my tastes.

Enjoyable slow-motion cheesy film

By "slow-motion", I mean the film itself has lots of pauses where the only thing going on is the camera waiting for some actor to say their line...

This is certainly a movie that deserves some riffing to keep the audience alive, and Luke and Joe do a pretty good job at it. This is the first time I've seen anything from Luke and Joe, and I liked the touch of the CGI-riffer characters. The riffs were entertaining, although the movie had plenty of quiet spots and I think the guys could have fit in more riffs without over-doing it. I'm rating it a solid four. Maybe as good as 4.5, but not quite a 5. IMO, it was worth the price of admission, and I'm sure I'll enjoy watching this several more times.

As the voice of Chief...

Yeah, I'm biased of course. But since I only have a small part in this one, and wasn't involved in the writing, I feel I can at least post my thoughts.

I'm already a fan of the Luke and Joe series (again, biased, but I'd watch it even if I wasn't in it), so I'm familiar with the characters. That does make it easier to enjoy this riff, but even as a standalone, it's a very good riff. The move itself is SO BAD, and the riffing is very good, if a bit spread out. As a first effort, this is stellar and way better than I imagined.

The intermission parts are very short, and appropriately paced. And the reenactment of one of the scenes in the movie is hilarious. Give this one a spin. You won't be disappointed.
