Join Josh as he riffs this wicked awesome action flick from 1990 starring Brandon Lee and Ernest Borgnine. No lasers, not much of a mission, but we do get a catchy theme song and a rather buoyant female agent who walks 400 miles in high heels. With more bad accents than Angelina Jolie's demo reel, Laser Mission delivers all the heart-pounding action of your cable company's onscreen channel guide.
Amazingly, this gem is in the Public Domain, so this riff is offered as a full-length VOD. Click the sample link to the right to watch the first fifteen minutes!
NOTE: Laser Mission is rated "R". It's not very explicit, but there is some strong language and completely ludicrous violence. It's nothing shocking, but more naughty than my typical riffs. Be ye warned!

re: Errr
It's an mpeg4 file with video and audio.
Errr, how come it says that
Errr, how come it says that it's a video on demand, but after I paid for it it says that it's just a sound file?
Very good BUT....
I would say by far the weakest of Josh's outings so far. I never really felt sucked in, and I felt there was an over-reliance on a pool of about two "types" of jokes ('look! boobies!' and 'mercenary man' riffs). Now, don't get me wrong, these two items ARE about 65% of the plot, so I understand WHY they're so prevalant, but I'd still have rather seen more variety in the riffing style. Having said that, however, Josh knows what he's doing and is always fun to listen to--I could probably happily listen to him doing a Tolstoy audio book with very few snide remarks every now and then. Even with my problems here, I'm still giving this a solid four stars, and I feel bad since EVERYONE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE EVER appeared to love it wholeheartedly, but I call em like I see em. Favorite riff: Really anything when Borgnine is on screen, especially at the beginning. Later he basically just becomes part of the background, but when he's chewing the scenery, man, he's SO much fun.

The best thing I can say for
The best thing I can say for this movie is that for all of the least talented and most incompetent people involved—particularly and especially the screenwriters—Eddie II was such an effective form of résumé suicide that these individuals have since disappeared, unable to further disrupt our otherwise serene existences.

Utterly enjoyable
Good delivery, good lines (if I had to pick one, the most unexpected huge laugh would be the 'comedy relief so bad' line at the end)...overall, just an absolute joy. My only real beef would be just a few lines I was a little 'meh' about (but that's more about what I find funny rather than a slap at the material itself) and the hope that some of the material won't become dated too quickly (numerous Twitter references). It's not a question of me finding the material funny, but just how well it holds up down the road. There's certainly more than enough here to ride out any trends, and the movie is hit with plenty of spot-on jokes to make it worth the price of admission. A must-buy.
A must-see for MST3K fans...
I bought this riff some time ago, and I've watched it numerous times since. I agree with Watchalong that the tone and pacing of the riff are classic. Also, the film itself was fantastically awful, similar to that of MST3K's more contemporary selections (and personal favorites) Werewolf and Laserbast. Josh, I know you're limited to films in the public domain but if you can find any more late-80's or early-90's cheese like this you have to tackle it! Thanks and keep 'em coming!
Very Funny!
Very funny and well worth the price. Full of hilarious one-offs ("oh just blow something up already!") and jokes from start to finish. Very clever writing and very well delivered.
Thanks
Thanks to everybody for making this a #1 iRiff for more than a week now. And thanks for the comments, gentlemen.
Watchalong dudes: looking very much forward to Lepus.
Where are the lasers?
This was well worth the $4.99, because I would/will actually want to watch this again in the future.
The way you approach riffing the film, is to me, almost perfect. I felt like you were
talking to me the entire time and your voice has a wonderful tone, reminiscent of Joel's. You
have a presence that makes up for the fact that you are riffing by yourself. Fantastic jokes and
references right out of the gate and all the way to the credits. The only question remaining,
where were the lasers?
"Lube-job mission", "Lethal Crouton", "That's Mr. Asshole To You" - Classics!

Another great feature
Quite a departure from the rest of the FWF offerings but that just makes it all the more fun. Highly recommended as always!!
