iRIFF BY: Hor-RIFF-ic Productions  (Created November 6, 2008)

Down to Earth maniac, Gary Slasher, and his delightfully dead wife, Erin, are set to tackle one of the most important horror movies ever -- 1980’s Friday the 13th.

Sean Cunningham’s classic is dissected by the sharp tongues of this deadly duo whose bitterness over not having made it big in the horror industry has driven them mad.

In order to avoid any potential accidental injury while viewing, please review the following:

  • No skinny dipping in lakes, fornicating in woods, or “getting busy” in general.
  • Please keep keen eyes on any children swimming whose safety you are in charge of.
  • Clothing is not legal tender in Monopoly.
  • Having alternate lighting is a bonus, however if none is available shouting “Hello” into the darkness almost guarantees your immanent death.
  • There’s always time to stop for a nice cup of Joe.
  • No doob, puff, crank, duff, spaz, or goof balls.

Be among the first to experience the horror and hilarity of this premier track from Hor-RIFF-ic Productions, the bloodiest crew in the biz!

Update:  There are now tracks available for both the Theatrical version and the recently released Uncut version of the film.

Come visit Hor-RIFF-ic Productions at their MySpace Page and at their Merch Store. Oh, and be sure to leave a comment or they’ll kill you. Or maim, they could also maim.

Just Say Yes!

I've finally started to cut into my list of "iRiffs to watch". I decided knock out three in one shot with Friday the 13th Parts I, II, and III. Part I was my first exposure to Hor-RIFF-ic Productions. I've read plenty of praise for the group both here and on the forums so my expectations were pretty high. This is the first effort from the group, and while they have improved their craft over time, this is a very solid debut. While the riffing is a bit sparse at times, the jokes deliver on a consistent basis. I can see why the riffing would be sparse given the genre's tendency for drawn-out, dialogue-free scenes featuring people who are about to be killed. That aside, there are plenty of moments of high-quality riffing.

The performers definitely have good chemistry which always makes for better riffing. There are lots of back-and-forth riffs that add a natural, conversational vibe. They even throw in some singing! One thing that struck me about the track was many of what I found to be the funniest riffs were almost throw-away lines delivered very casually but naturally, almost as if they were ad-libbed. Whether it's spontaneous or just sounds like it, the Hor-RIFF-ic team uses this very effectively.

Favorite laugh-out-loud moments:

The "Just Say No" riff.
The "I'll give you Broadway if..." Monopoly riff.

For what it's worth, I definitely recommend this iRiff.

***NOTE ABOUT AUDIO LEVELS***
The audio can be a tad low when the riffers speak softly. I recommend re-authoring and auto-ducking the movie track to resolve any low audio issues. I actually recommend this for any riff, including the official RiffTrax stuff.

Quality control

Had several people check the track as we've never been contacted regarding syncing issues. They did not find any issue with it. If any one else has a problem, please let us know.

Crap.

Volume's too low. Actually, the riffing was so bland, that turned out to be an advantage. I couldn't get this to sync right either. I have both versions, I just think they screwed up.

Hor-RIFF-icProductions's picture

Surprise!

We updated our original track to boost the audio level since this was our first track (rookies...what can you do?) And we added a track for the Uncut version of the 1981 movie so it will stay in sync now. You're welcome. Don't forget to rate folks! ------xoxo Erin and Gary Slasher

Great stuff

I'm not sure if it's just the way I had it set up on my system, but the audio sounded a little low. But that doesn't detract from the quips. Although the beginning felt a little 'deader' than the end, it ramped up well, and by the end some truly great lines came into play ("You're in league with the generator, aren't you!") Plus, the team set-up works very well...the riffing flows naturally and Gary and Erin play well off of each other. You never get the sense that it's two people reading lines, but two people actually having a conversation. All in all, solid. I have to hear Part 2 one of these days soon.

Thanks

We'd just like to take a moment to say thanks to all our fans, and to those that commented and rated our products. In the wake of all the stress with the contest and everything else we realized that making just a few people laugh is worth more than any recognition we ever get. If we make you laugh then we are eternally pleased and happy you took a chance on us. We won't let you down...or eat your brain. Promise.

Wonderful...

Worth every penny to listen to you two riff this classic a new one. Ninety-nine percent of the material was excellent and the other one percent still made me smile. Not a single cringe-worthy joke. I'd say that at the very least you guys give Matthew Elliot a run for his money. My favorite bit out of initial viewing/listening; bored out of your minds, inquiring about the coffee she'd started for herself and bickering about whether or not it could be iced. In that moment, as in a few others you two seemed every bit as genuine and comfortable riffing as Mike and the guys. You've got a definite fan in me and as a lover of the genre myself, I can't wait to see what you've done with Children of the Corn and what you'll delve into next.

Finally, while I haven't laid down a track myself and have no real room to critique from any point other than as a listener, the stretches of silence were noticeable throughout. While a part of me says that this beats the awkward not-funny jokes little action on-screen can result in, I've heard you riff, and I know that you're capable of more. That's it, my only qualm. You rocked my Casbah, fo' sho'.

Nice Work

Finally had a chance to sit down and watch this one, so we apologize for the delay. I've got to say there were a few laugh out loud moments, some very good observations, and a good running joke. As far as things I think you could work on, the only thing I noticed was there was a lot of moments where there were no jokes. So I would say fill the gaps as much as possible. Otherwise, very good. Look forward to Children of the corn.

This Poorly told story Inspired a Series?

After the first throat cutting I stopped watching it when it first aired on tv, Loved it when it was pointed out the survivor was barring a door that opened out Reminded me of MST3K. What was the crying need for this to continue? Someone thought it would be as good as the Godfather sequel? Good riff and I'm going to purchase Children of the Corn.

Really enjoyed this one.

Just wanted to reiterate what's already been said about this one. 5/5 for me. I'll be picking up any future offerings the two of you put out provided I can find the DVDs. Keep up the good work.-Raven

Great job, you guys played off each other perfectly (like you were married or something). Can't wait for more.

Holy Crap!

I was really leery of this iRiff thing but if they're all like this I'm sold. Professional and funny. I'll try other iRiffs now for sure.

Extremely Funny

Who would have thought a murderer stalking a summer camp could be so hilarious? Like many of the best MST3K riffs, I felt like you were in my head with some of the jokes. Stupendous!! I'm looking forward to more.

WONDERFUL!

Great iRiff right out of the box. I now have an excuse to show this movie during my "horror movie night" parties.

Very much recommended

Dude!

I laughed through the whole thing, loved the Dukes of Hazzard moment and the Kevin Bacon jokes. Even your readme file gave me a chuckle. Definately buy this! I'm certainly going to be buying their next one.

Extremely Satisfying

Really suprised, reminded me of old MST3K I miss. Loved the Dorf and Jason PSA. "What mean you people?" I almost peed.

You got it!

"Awesome job, guys. There were a few slow spots, but with practice you can work on that. And I certainly won't hesitate to get your next effort! On that note, I really would love to see you do a later F13 film. But whatever it is, I look forward to it!"

Fantastic

Really fantastic job. I doubt the pros could do a whole lot better. You got a sale on your next riff from this one piece alone. Loved the 'beaver' line. Overall a great riff. 5/5

Just gave this one a listen, and I do indeed have some high praise for you.  You just made the purchase of Friday the 13th worthwhile.  (never liked this movie or this series, always been more of a Freddy Fan, you understand)

Some real gems in the riffing here, and the point of view of a slasher and a zombie helps make it extra fun.

By the way, Erin, you are by far the most articulate and pleasant sounding zombie I have ever heard.  You are a credit to your...well...race isn't right, or species...well whatever you classify as zombie as, you are a credit to it.

Greetings All!

We really hope you all enjoy our first ever production - Friday the 13th.  It was a labor of love and we've never been happier seeing it here.  So please enjoy and give us you honest opinions.  (Please know by honest we mean glowing, flattering, down right embarrasing praise.)

Brains all around!
