The Lost City, Chapter 8 is an epic story of freedom. Freedom from being a different race that is. If you squint and turn your head slightly to the left you can make out some of the finer points of this chapter. A crazy magician witch doctor that has perfected the anti insta-tan. Some kind of crazy Queen with Elvis sideburns. A lot of African natives that go bonkers to have their very own Michael Jackson-ing. This story has it all, if you can just manage to see it.
The Harass Bastards attempt to be more offensive than the serial itself, which is no simple task.

Well, after a delayed release the project is coming together. This one varies differently in tone than the other chapters mostly because it was done in the Harass Bastards style, but also because this chapter was overly goofy compared to the others and the racism hit new highs. You guys are pretty funny on the fly, but this also makes the riff very sporatic. There were times when I was laughing quite a bit and then at times I'd go a few minutes without finding anything all that funny. The volume levels were a little uneven between the riffers but given how this track is recorded, that's probably to be expected. Favorite riff was the voting and owning property line.
But I'm trying to give feedback on all the other Lost City chapters, no matter what, so I'll go ahead here. I'm not at all holding the wait before release against you guys; I know what sudden, unexpected moves can be like. But I'm just not at all into your "style." Improv, to me, unless you're Bob Newhart or a Second City alum, is just a form of laziness, and that's basically all I get from this. It's like the movie spends maybe two minutes working through a joke, so it's kind of similar to watching the writing process going on in the head of someone who pre-writes. Which ... isn't funny or interesting at all, at least not for me. Obviously some people dig the style, which is cool. But absolutely, 100% not for me. You guys definitely seem to be entertaining each other, which is slightly amusing, but it totally just left me cold. Sorry to be so negative, but my only constructive criticism would be "pre-write; you seem like you could be funny!" but that's obviously not what you're going for.

Thank you Michael for being honest. We know full well that our stlye isn't for everyone. We don't necessarily think that writing isn't good. it's just that we wanted to have a different style to separate ourselves from the other groups. Sorry that the short left you cold. Maybe try our other tracks on the site, or even try some of our earlier tracks for free from here: http://www.harassbastards.com/
Not usually my kind of thing, I will admit, but I really enjoyed this short. It's probably a serious character flaw, but the moment when the HB lads decided to try to cram every racial slur known to man into the movie had me in stitches. Good stuff, guys. Glad it finally made it up. :)
