The Core is a disaster movie in every sense of the term. In this 2003 film the earth's core is halted, Whatever shall we do? The answer is obvious gather a ragtag group of scientists throw them in a penis-shaped ship and shoot them to the center of the earth. Elsewhere in the world stuff gets blowed up. Meanwhile a pale, skinny loser prevents world-wide panic controlling the flow of information on the web, what he calls "hacking the planet". Fuzzy logic, bad science and hollywood cliches abound as we delve deep into Aaron Eckhardt's chin.

In some ways the audio quality of this riff track is quite good and clear, but I seem to be having constant problems with the track significantly faster than the movie as it's playing. Also, the syncing mechanism isn't very reliable. It's a guy doing a voice-impression of his mother, but then when they're riffing the guys will sometimes do a fake-woman voice due to the scene (such as the woman during the pigeons in England scene). So if you hear a fake-woman voice, you can't tell if it's a sync-hint or a riff. I've seen the movie frequently enough that if they do a distinctive-enough riff then I know what scene (that hasn't played yet) they're referring to. The next problem is that many of the riffs aren't really all that distinctive, in the sense that for many of the riffs I can't tell from the line where I might be in the movie. Here's a riff, for instance, "That makes me rather uncomfortable". Uh, yeah, that could apply to just about any minute in the whole movie. Or "Wow, this is bad science", another line that applies to most of the movie. ___p___ Certainly "The Core" deserves plenty of riff tracks, but the syncing problems with this track make it too frustrating to be enjoyable. There were some good lines in this riff, but there needs to be fewer generic riffs and (imo) a wider variety of riffs.

I listened again to both this riff and the riff for the "Core" done by Tom + Jon, and this track does have some good riffs missed by the earlier track. But I think it was rushed out too soon in an attempt to qualify for the big iRiff contest, and the problems with syncing really hurt it. I'd also note that I didn't have any problems with the syncing of the earlier riff track for "The Core" as done by Tom + Jon. Perhaps there are multiple versions of the movie? But that seems unlikely to me, as this track seems to be consistently faster than the movie, for the entire movie. I have to pause this every 10 minutes or so to get the lines to line up with the movie, so it wasn't just a few extra scenes in the movie. Maybe a PAL vs NTSC issue?
