Rarely have the planets of Bad Acting, Bad Science, and Big Budget aligned so perfectly as in the 2003 blockbuster movie, "The Core". Contrary to what you are hoping, this "The Core" is not an inspirational video about your company's work ethic, nor a PBS special on apples; it's not even a new exercise regimen. No, this "The Core" spits on the work of H. G. Wells, replacing artistic genius with warmed-over technobablistic faux-facts*. When the Earth's core stops spinning, there's only one course of action: build an unfeasible ship, crewed by unlikely heroes, sent on a preposterous journey to overcome insurmountable obstacles, thus solving an irreparable problem. Oh, and did we mention "Bad Science"? Who could resist all this, an easily predicted character culling, and a two-hour-plus runtime? Certainly we could not, so we invite you to join us on this tour of the bowels of the Earth Sci-Fi movie silliness.

Tom & Jon

* these are cheaper than actual scientific facts, and this movie's budget was primarily spent on sundry 2-D simulation packages...hard choices had to be made.

A Great Riff---to the Core (bad pun...sorry!)

These guys chose a movie that takes itself faaaaar too seriously... and they made it hilarious! There was so much "riff-fodder" and they made the most of every opportunity. I liked the variety of jokes and topics...as well as the recurring theme of BAD SCIENCE! They also included some obscure references that will challenge the brain-- and tickle anyone who actually understands. Nice. Overall-- a great riff and I highly recommend!

I concure

I too liked all the pointing out of the insane makes-no-sense science in this movie. I loved the F-bomb line too. I laughed hard enough at that line where I had to pause it and recover a bit before continuing (I made a pre-synced version).

I didn't think this one was hilariously funny but rather it kept me entertained throughout. Isn't that the point of comedy? To be entertained? Not necessarily to laugh. Laughter is only a part of being entertained.

I highly recommend this one and look forward to more.

Great riff track to a movie that deserves some riffing

When "The Core" came out, I heard some of the outlines of the movie and thought "that sounds silly", so I never paid further attention to it. But I decided to get the DVD of it for this riff track, and I'd have to say it's a non-stop laugh riot -- and that's just the movie by itself! Tom + Jon teamed up to do an excellent collection of riffs which fit the action quite well. I've enjoyed this enough that I've already played it a few times, even though I have other riff tracks that I own but haven't listened to yet. A Top-notch job. I'll rate this as a 5, particularly for anyone (like me) who is into REAL WORLD science, and finds about 90% of the "science" in this movie as totally absurd and internally inconsistent.

Two Thumbs Up

Well worth the money, these guys keep the riff clean and make the movie somewhat watchable,
oh and don't take this the wrong way but i found their voices soothing.... Anyway..

Favorite Line " Whoa he just dropped an F-Bomb whats the yield of an F-Bomb? We have to recalculate everything!

Hilarious!

I thoroughly enjoyed this iRIFF! It was hilarious! I like the jokes, pointing out the questionable - aka impossible! - science, as well as tie-ins to other movies, and original humor... Just really well done!
