Q: What is an iRiff?
A: An iRiff is a home-made audio commentary that you can upload to the RiffTrax Store and sell to our thousands of daily visitors. You'll make 50% of the net revenue your iRiff generates, paid in quarterly installments on balances over $25.
Q: What do the different formats, NTSC and PAL, mean?
A: The short answer is that NTSC files are for people in North America, including the United States and Canada. PAL files are for users in regions other than Region 1, such as the United Kingdom and Australia. The long answer has to do with technical specifications of each format. NTSC and PAL have different framerates - meaning a PAL video actually is a bit faster than its NTSC counterpart, making it somewhat shorter. It's difficult to notice unless you have two versions of the same movie (or audio file) playing side-by-side; but eventually you'll notice the PAL version being ahead of the NTSC version. Sometimes the difference is as much as a few minutes! If you find that your mp3 file is constantly out of sync with the DVD you're watching, first make sure that you've downloaded the correct format of mp3 (NTSC for Region 1, PAL for elsewhere) and then check other things, such as the DVD version (Collector's Edition, Director's Cut, etc.) is correct for that mp3 file. Cinester Theater, Aaron J. Bossig, Quiptracks, and Ice-On-Mars invite you to boldly go... where Ice-On-Mars has sort of already gone, incidentally. Still, he was nice enough to invite the rest of us along for this crazy ride, and the result is a fully-riffed version of "Star Trek: Voyager - Season 1, Disc 2"! Cinester Theater is at the plate first; they've dusted off their comedy-cleats, taken a few test swings with their baseball bat of.... laughs, I guess, and they're ready to take on "Phage"!
Meet Neelix. He's the Jar Jar Binx of "Star Trek", and somebody stole his lungs. An intelligent group of protagonists might recognize a good thing when they see it, but this is Voyager, so that's right out the window. Based on some misplaced sense of responsibility (or some heavily skewed market research numbers concerning the popularity of the Neelix character) Janeway and her crew waste no time in looking this particular gift-horse in the mouth and set out on a desperate quest to get those lungs back. When the intrepid crew blunders into an asteroid that's actually a Fun House Hall-Of-Mirrors, they encounter a mysterious group of aliens that look like wads of ABC gum.
Will they find Neelix's lungs in time? Will anyone care if they don't? And when do they add that hot Borg supermodel to the cast?

Wow, if their intent was to get us to hate Neelix, they have succeeded. I guess the aliens took their lungs since they were so strong due to constant chatter.

i just felt that was necessary to yell at least once at any point when discussing this episode. Anyway, yay! This is exactly what I was hoping for: fresh voices making Voyager feel at least somewhat new again for riffing purposes. Just friggin hilarious all the way through (it's really tough to pick a favorite, though I'm always a sucker for nigh-unmotivated yelling, esp. with the 'shoot our phasers!' /switch to master shot of ship firing/ 'OH JESUS!'). Also Frondy wants to let you know he's not even going to deign to respond to your insults as his insult technology is obviously vastly superior to your own. He says he "once crafted a remark so biting that the children of Talok IV were in moments rendered sterile. Their home is now nothing but a mute monument to the hubris of lesser species." Uh. So there's that. ....................................................................................................

I lolled.
This was a very entertaining riff from the intro to the end credits! Many laugh-out-loud moments and great deliveries. There is room for improvement in the department of audio quality but it is not so bad as to detract from the enjoyment—just a tad buzzy. In short: Would Recommend!
