Q: What is an iRiff?
A: An iRiff is a home-made audio commentary that you can upload to the RiffTrax Store and sell to our thousands of daily visitors. You'll make 50% of the net revenue your iRiff generates, paid in quarterly installments on balances over $25.
Q: What do the different formats, NTSC and PAL, mean?
A: The short answer is that NTSC files are for people in North America, including the United States and Canada. PAL files are for users in regions other than Region 1, such as the United Kingdom and Australia. The long answer has to do with technical specifications of each format. NTSC and PAL have different framerates - meaning a PAL video actually is a bit faster than its NTSC counterpart, making it somewhat shorter. It's difficult to notice unless you have two versions of the same movie (or audio file) playing side-by-side; but eventually you'll notice the PAL version being ahead of the NTSC version. Sometimes the difference is as much as a few minutes! If you find that your mp3 file is constantly out of sync with the DVD you're watching, first make sure that you've downloaded the correct format of mp3 (NTSC for Region 1, PAL for elsewhere) and then check other things, such as the DVD version (Collector's Edition, Director's Cut, etc.) is correct for that mp3 file. When a rookie policeman is shot a thematically-appropriate 750,000 times by a gang of ruthless criminals, a multimillion-dollar corporation decides to turn his corpse into the last word on law-enforcement. They jam the spongy mess into a human-shaped tin can, redub it ROBOCOP, and waste no time putting all crime in Detroit in the emergency room with 400 lbs of titanium-steel law enforcement pounded directly into their spine. But when forces within the corporation begin to conspire against him, ROBOCOP is in for the fight of his life as he must battle not only the police and the goons that killed him, but also ED-209, a rival battle-bot that's as deadly as he is adorable.
Join Shawn and Keith as they don protective suits of cybernetic-comedy and shake hands with another Verhoeven masterpiece, ROBOCOP! It will be 90 minutes of side-splitting entertainment that you'll need a total mind-wipe to forget! And even then, we're betting you'd still get weird flashes of how hilarious it was in your new life, prompting you to embark on a death-defying adventure to discover the truth! That would be fun, right?
Note: The iRiff syncs up with the R-rated version of "ROBOCOP", not the Unrated version. The Unrated version is only a few seconds longer and contains a little more violence; it should be usable with this iRiff, but you will have to resync the audio every so often to make it work.
Another 5-star effort...
If you have the right version of RoboCop, this riff track adds a lot of fun to watching the movie.
I had the bad luck to own the wrong version of RoboCop, and thus the first time I watched this the riff track was way out of sync with what was happening in the movie. This is a case where the movie could get far enough out of sync that the normal syncing methods didn't work too well.
In any case, I read up a bit about the difference between the R-rated version (what they riffed) and the unrated version (which I own), and with a little practice I can figure out the right spots where I have to pause the riff track for 5-10 seconds to get things lined up again. And the riffing is definitely much much funnier when it's in sync with the movie!
Entertaining movie + good price + great riffing = fun all around
As always the Cinester Theater guys nailed this one. I must admit I really like this Iriff group , but they have yet to let me down. Nice variety in riffing from: Draconian drug laws to the classic people splitting up in a dangerous area for NO reason.
This might be one of the better Iriffs to use as an introduction to the world of riffing, because the movie is entertaining enough and the guys kill it , no slow spots and a riff that is full of laughs.
