What is iRiffs?

Think you have the chops to make a RiffTrax?

Just create and upload your humorous commentaries on anything, set your price, and we'll do the rest by hosting and distributing your content. You'll even get your very own product page to promote your iRiff. Best of all, you share in the sales of your iRiff! We will feature the best tracks on the RiffTrax home page and the funniest stuff will rise to the top based on our user comments and star rating system.

We'll be having contests with cash prizes, and the best iRiffs' artists will get invited to work with Mike Nelson and the RiffTrax guys, and get paid to make a RiffTrax Presents!

Q: What is an iRiff?

A: An iRiff is a home-made audio commentary that you can upload to the RiffTrax Store and sell to our thousands of daily visitors. You'll make 50% of the net revenue your iRiff generates, paid in quarterly installments on balances over $25.

Q: What do the different formats, NTSC and PAL, mean?

A:

The short answer is that NTSC files are for people in North America, including the United States and Canada. PAL files are for users in regions other than Region 1, such as the United Kingdom and Australia. The long answer has to do with technical specifications of each format. NTSC and PAL have different framerates - meaning a PAL video actually is a bit faster than its NTSC counterpart, making it somewhat shorter. It's difficult to notice unless you have two versions of the same movie (or audio file) playing side-by-side; but eventually you'll notice the PAL version being ahead of the NTSC version. Sometimes the difference is as much as a few minutes! If you find that your mp3 file is constantly out of sync with the DVD you're watching, first make sure that you've downloaded the correct format of mp3 (NTSC for Region 1, PAL for elsewhere) and then check other things, such as the DVD version (Collector's Edition, Director's Cut, etc.) is correct for that mp3 file. These details are usually found on the product page. For more information on NTSC, as well as a list of countries that use it, click here. For PAL information use this link.

Movies have taught us an awful lot about robots. They're stronger, faster, and smarter than us. Their emotionless faces of tempered steel can hide a childlike sense of innocence and wonder, or an unquenchable thirst for murder and destruction. They'll take our jobs. They'll steal our hearts....

Soapy: Shakespearean character in puffy sleeves or rough-neck cowboy? In either case, Soapy keeps the creepily informative apparition tradition alive by appearing in Billy's bedroom, charged with the task of convincing Billy that there's nothing more manly than grizzled farmhands washing up in pink...

The Lost City, Chapter 8 is an epic story of freedom. Freedom from being a different race that is. If you squint and turn your head slightly to the left you can make out some of the finer points of this chapter. A crazy magician witch doctor that has perfected the anti insta-tan. Some kind of...

[Update for November 19, 2009: Audio is improved overall] Over 70 minutes — includes the movie and the commentary all in one video! Nearly 500 jokes! Seven writers and four performers, including actual ladies! Almost no zombies! Teenage Zombies (1959) (IMDb, Wikipedia) is a “horror...

It can be argued that you can count all of the good comic book adaptations on one hand. Now, if said hand was forced into an industrial, hot tub-sized meat grinder, leaving only one gnarled finger, I can be sure that that tenacious digit could only represent one film: The Story of Ricky. If you...
justandrewsmall-warning.jpg
If you need a break from Japanese movies featuring actors in giant rubber monster suits, then try "Warning From Space" which is a Japanese movie featuring actors in giant starfish costumes. The giant starfish apparently plot our demise, but prove to be the peaceful sort who use an earth...

In this topsy turvey age of bailouts and bankruptcies, it's good to be informed about the topsy turveiest place of all, the Federal Reserve. Step back with us to the year 1999, when dot coms were on the brink of busting and the central bank of the U.S. turned to a plucky animated eagle to hip the...
Attitudes.and.Health.Category.Thumb.png
Join me for an attitude adjustment...1949-style! This angsty little romp features Marv, a young man who's about to learn a valuable lesson that worrying about things can kill you. Well, not really but it can make you handle a basketball like Tony Romo trying to get Jessica Simpson out of her bra....
ApePosterthum2aa.jpg
You know the story: boy meets ape; boy gets ape; boy loses planet.  In this remake of the 1968 film, Marky Mark Wahlberg (sans Funky Bunch) must defeat the ape army before the cast smothers to death beneath Rick Baker's cumbersome facial appliances.  In a story as loosely based on Pierre...

Jean's brother Steve is bringing his roommate home from college.  They're having a party, and it just has to turn out right!  This 1950 educational film warns us that our party will be a disaster without careful library research.  This is Team Swizzlebeef's long-awaited debut. Please...
